FIRE INCIDENT IN PUTINGAL TEMPLE AT KOLLAM

           A fire incident occurred in the wee hours on 10 Apr 2016 at Kerala’s Puttingal Temple, Kollam.  The Coast Guard District Headquarters No.4 at Kochi in coordination with District administration immediately responded for rendering assistance. 
          The Coast Guard Disaster Management Team was activated at Kochi and Vizhinjam.  The situation was carefully monitored to render assistance for saving precious. 
          The Coast Guard interceptor Boat C-427 and interceptor craft from Vizhinjam harbour was instantaneously sailed out with maximum Coast Guard personnel and entered Thangassery harbour (Kollam District) for rendering assistance and support to the Dist. Administration. 
          The CG Medical Team alongwith medical kit was sent to the disaster site from Coast Guard Station Vizhinjam,  Trivandrum.  The medical team has started providing all possible assistance to the Dist. Administration. 
          The Coast Guard helicopter based at Kochi was immediately converted into ambulance mode and positioned at Trivandrum with experience service doctor alongwith medical supplies for medical evacuation. 
          Maximum Coast Guard personnel from Vizhinjam have reached Govt. hospital at Trivandrum for donating blood.  The Coast Guard team is also providing assistance to the hospital staff on the request by the Dist. Collector, Trivandrum to manage the civil blood donors in the Govt. hospital. 


          Coast Guard ambulance from Coast Guard station Kochi along with additional medical team and support staff also proceeded to the disaster site by road for rendering assistance. Coast Guard District headquarters (Kerala) is in communication with Dist collector, Trivandrum for mobilising additional support to the administration.  The Coast Guard Ship Abhinav at Kochi is kept standby along with medical relief material for immediate deployment.
