UNICEF India requests the honour of your attendance at the Activate Talk we are holding on 18 December at 11:00 am at Alliance Française (72, KK Birla Marg, Lodi Estate, New Delhi).
UNICEF has declared 2014 as the Year of Innovation for Children as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our talk, focusing on Innovations to Support Ending Open Defecation in India, is part of a series of events around the world which will bring together inspirational speakers to share innovations that can deliver progress on the major issues confronting the most vulnerable and marginalized children in each country.
UNICEF India has chosen sanitationas a theme to focus on for our talks. Fivespeakers will talk about the issue from different angles including social and behaviour change, public dialogue and advocacy, policy, equity and gender and youth engagement.
Nalin Mehta, writer, social historian and columnist, will moderate the talk.
Speakers include:
- Anshul Tewari, Founder of Youth Ki Awaaz.
Online platforms as a tool to harness the power of youth to create social
- Sonal Kapoor, Founder of Protsahan.
Use of innovative communication approaches to change mindsets among children and adolescents (especially girls) from marginalized communities.
- Jairam Ramesh, Indian economist and Member of Parliament representing Andhra Pradesh.
The role of politicians as innovators and champions for sanitation
- Swami Chidanand Saraswati, co-founder Global Inter-Faith WASH Alliance.
From temples to toilets – the power of faith to influence sanitation behavior change
- Aruna Rajoria, Indian Administrative Service, Mission Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan - Education for All Campaign, Government of Assam.
