Indian knowledge workers want to extract more value from their PDFs: Adobe survey reveals unfulfilled potential
New Delhi, India — February 20, 2014 — Adobe
India today revealed findings of a survey conducted to understand the
usage pattern and benefits provided by Adobe Acrobat, the industry
standard for PDF software. The study reiterated Acrobat’s ubiquity in
document management with over 95% rating it as highly productive for
their workflows. The study also revealed new insights into features
Indian knowledge workers are keen to use in the near future.
The
survey shows Indian knowledge workers are yet to realize the full
potential offered by Acrobat with a vast knowledge gap on the range of
features that Adobe Acrobat offers professionals. Some examples are:
· Digitally signing documents: Only 28% sign documents digitally at present but over 54% would like to do this in the near future.
· Send rich media files such as videos in PDF: Acrobat allows you to combine
spreadsheets, web pages, documents, Adobe Flash Player compatible
videos, and more in a rich PDF Portfolio that packs a professional
punch. Only 13% are using this feature today but a whopping 58% are keen
to explore this feature.
· Electronic document reviews: Only
23% participate in electronic document reviews but over 48% want to be
able to use this feature with their colleagues. Acrobat allows knowledge
workers to stop sorting through paper and email trails and easily
automate review and approval cycles. Multiple reviewers can see and
build on each other's comments so that professionals can meet deadlines.
· Add security features to documents they receive from others:
Currently 29% add security features to documents they receive from
others but 58% are keen to be able to do this. Acrobat makes it simple
to keep work more secure and users can get expert protection. They can
easily add copy and edit protection to any PDF — even right from
Microsoft Office applications in Windows®.
· Need for training: Over
65% of those surveyed indicated that they would like to undertake
trainings on Adobe Acrobat to better exploit features to its full
potential.
The
figures above clearly outline the need for a deeper understanding of
the wide variety of features that can simplify everyday tasks. See
attached infographic for more details here:
Commenting
on the findings of this study Umang Bedi, Managing Director – South
Asia, Adobe said, “Adobe has always aimed at delivering tools to the
customers that enable them to enhance their workflow and allow them to
be highly productive and collaborative. We understand that Acrobat is
closely linked to its users’ increased productivity, and this research
will help us continue to find new ways to enhance IT workers knowledge
of Acrobat’s features.”
Survey
respondents also outlined benefits that they are continuing to see with
Acrobat. 87% of knowledge workers rated document creation and
management as the primary reason for using Adobe Acrobat followed by PDF
conversion and document reuse (62%). A point to note is that 38%
outlined compliance requirement as a major benefit which highlights
growing momentum and understanding for compliance to industry standards
that Acrobat helps them achieve. Further, 42% of users save more than
20% of their time spent on document creation and management every month
using Acrobat.
Indian
IT Managers too are very happy with Acrobat, outlining the top benefits
for their organization as: easy document sharing; reduction in paper
and print costs; enhanced security; automated document workflows, and
better completion of electronic forms.
“Acrobat
has helped us greatly in improving the look and feel of our documents,
made sharing faster and more secure and also helped us reduce paper and
print costs,” said Bhupendra Pant, Head IT, L&T-Ewac Alloys Ltd, on
the benefits that his organization has seen using Acrobat.
Respondents
for the survey included 100 IT managers who have deployed Acrobat
across their organization and 100 knowledge workers who regularly use
Acrobat. They represent professionals across all major industry
verticals including Print and Publishing, Manufacturing, BFSI, IT/ITES,
Healthcare and Graphic Design.
