INTERACTIVE SESSION
 Regulating Sports Betting in India: Challenges and Opportunities
1400hrs, 25 June, 2013, FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi
 
In the wake of recent spot and match fixing scandal regulating sports betting in India is being debated since past few weeks. As on one side, revenues generated through sports betting have been used effectively for sports development in many countries on the other side some countries have banned it as it is considered morally wrong.
 
To discuss various issues engulfing sports betting, and to know public concerns on the same FICCI is organizing an Interactive Session on Sports Betting Challenges and Opportunities on 25 June 2013, 1430 hrs at FICCI.
  • 1400 hrs : Registration
  • 1430 hrs: Interactive Session
  • 1600 hrs: High tea
The objective of this interactive session is to discuss and understand the intricacies of this issue in context of following:
  1. What is the difference between Gambling and Betting?
  2. What is the difference between Sports Betting and Match Fixing?
  3. Whether there should be blanket prohibition on sports betting?
  4. How regulating sports betting will reduce match/ spot fixing?
  5. How to address the issues related to addictive tendencies of vulnerable classes?
We are expecting Govt. representatives from different ministries, industry captains, and experts on sports betting to take part in this interactive session. We are inviting concerned stakeholders like you to take part in this interactive session as your inputs and observations are going to be of immense value for FICCI and august gathering.
