BSP Chief Mayawati said SP "goons" will be "taught a lesson" when she returns to power,agitated over removal of hoardings installed by her party on BR Ambedkar's birth anniversary, former CM of UP and chief of BSP chief said during her governance, land was leased to marginal farmers, but this present regime is in for grab by SP "goons and party workers". The government knew that it was Babasaheb's anniversary and lakhs of people will come to pay tribute to him. On this occasion hoardings are installed across the country for which no permission is required," she said addressing a function in Lucknow.
President Pranab Mukherjee today led the nation to pay homage to the Architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on his 122nd birth anniversary.
Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, Senior BJP leader L K Advani, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and several ministers and MPs, also paid floral tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Parliament House premises.
Thousands of people from across the country lined up around Parliament Street to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar. The function has been organized by the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry.
