Survey on Freedom Fighters
No survey regarding dependents of mutiny veterans and other freedom fighters has been conducted by the Government. However applications from the freedom fighters and their eligible dependents were invited from time to time for grant of Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension. At present dependent family pension of Rs. 15,382/- per month is admissible to spouse of the deceased freedom fighter. After death of the spouse, the unmarried and unemployed daughters (up to maximum of three) are eligible for dependent family pension at the rate of Rs. 3645/-per month.

None of the applications for sanction of samman pension alongwith the supporting documents received through the State Governments /Union Territory Administrations, except 168 re-verification reports from the Government of Andhra Pradesh which relate to applications for sanction of Samman pension for participation in Hyderabad Liberation Movement, are pending. These re-verification reports alongwith the applications for sanction of samman pension for participation in Hyderabad Liberation Movement which meet the eligibility criteria for sanction of pension are required to be considered by the Screening Committee of Eminent Freedom Fighters. Efforts are being made to process expeditiously these pending applications for sanction of samman pension for participation in Hyderabad Liberation Movement. However, no time frame can be indicated.

This was stated by Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of Home Affairs in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today
