Western nations are urging Iran to quickly sign and implement an
agreement on steps to ease international concerns that it is developing
nuclear weapons. The demands were made on Tuesday at the ongoing board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
Agency chief Yukiya Amano told the meeting earlier that an agreement had been reached with Iran on ways to check its nuclear program.United States and EU nations welcomed the agreement, but said it is essential that Iran quickly sign the agreement and allow IAEA inspectors access to the Parchin military complex near Tehran.
UN agency suspects that Iran has been removing earth from the military complex in an attempt to destroy evidence of its nuclear arms development. Iran has so far turned down IAEA requests to inspect the facility.
The IAEA board also discussed North Korea's nuclear programs. Japan, South Korea and other nations said the agency should reiterate its calls on the country to refrain from conducting another nuclear test.
