IOS Signs Top Indian Olympic Athletes

New Delhi, May 3rd, 2012: IOS Sports & Entertainment, a leading Indian sport management group has entered into management and representation agreements with ISSF World Rankings 2011 and ISSF World Cup 2010 Gold medalist Ronjan Sodhi; Munich Open Gold medalist and Asian Shooting Championship Bronze medalist Heena Siddhu; India’s first Gold medalist in track & field at the Commonwealth Games for 52 years and two time Asian Games Bronze medalist Krishna Poonia; Commonwealth and Asian Championships Gold medalist and the first Indian wrestler to qualify for the 2012 Olympics Yogeshwar Dutt and national hockey team captain Bharat Chettri, goal keeper Ravindran Sreejesh and ace striker SV Sunil, all of whom will be part of the Indian Olympic Contingent for 2012. As per the agreements, IOS will coordinate their endorsements, media activities, rights and brand management.
IOS had already signed hockey stars Sandeep Singh, Sardar Singh and Shivendra Singh earlier this year and has a subsisting long term agreement with 5 time world boxing champion Mary Kom. The signings are in keeping with IOS’s proud track record of working with sportspersons outside cricket and generating some of the largest endorsement deals for these celebrities. IOS had identified the potential in Vijender as far back as 2005 and had exclusively promoted and managed him up to 2009. In addition, IOS has also previously managed Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar and continues to work closely with other leading athletes in the country. The new arrangements make IOS India’s foremost sports talent management agency with the largest pool of sports stars under exclusive management at one time.
Speaking on the new associations, Mr. Neerav Tomar, Managing Director & CEO of IOS said “We are extremely proud of these associations and look forward to bringing our experience and expertise to bear in building the profile, image and brand of these athletes and then connecting each of these athletes with the brand that best suits their unique characteristics so that the endorsements that we bring to them suit their brand identity. We look forward to working with these super stars of Indian sports and welcome them to the IOS family”.
The relationship with IOS would permit these sportspersons to concentrate solely on preparing for the upcoming Olympics, without worrying about marketing or public relations activities. Speaking about the new relationship, Bharat Chettri, Captain of the Indian national hockey team said “It is great to tie-up with company like IOS. With our focus solely on preparing for Olympics, it is a relief that our interests are looked upon by such a professional sports marketing firm, which has already done a fair bit in terms of commercial endorsements for our team mates”.
Ronjan Sodhi too expressed his pleasure in joining hands with IOS. “IOS’s track record in the industry is impressive and it was ultimately their previous accomplishments which convinced me to enter into an association with them. I look forward to a long and successful association”.
Krishna Poonia, currently training in the United States also expressed herself on this association, saying “This young and dynamic team is full of energy, ideas and belief and I know that if I can perform on the field, IOS will leave no stone unturned in performing off the field on my behalf”.
“I am excited at joining hands with IOS and look forward to building a strong profile and brand for myself going forward”, said Yogeshwar Dutt on the occasion of this announcement.
