Hollande the voters first choic in France

Socialist Francois Hollande, beat Nicolas Sarkozy in France's presidential run-off election on Sunday, has called for unity among the French people. Hollande garnered 51.7 percent to Sarkozy's 48.3 percent.
Hollande will be the country's first socialist president in 17 years, since Mitterrand.


Hollande needs  tough talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel on her  tight fiscal restraints Germany has imposed on the Eurozone.Failing to reach logical end  Merkel is unlikely to back down, the joint currency could be back at the brink of meltdown in a matter of weeks. Euro plunge in Asian and Pacific trade after elections in France and Greece rekindled concerns over Europe's sovereign debts and credit problems.
 
 Francois Hollande advocated  unity among the French people while delivered a speech before many thousands of  voters and supporters at Paris's Bastille square early Monday morning. He said the French people's choice for change is part of a movement rising throughout Europe. He further said people everywhere are looking to the French people to end this period of austerity.Hollande advocates adding economic growth policies to measures on tackling the European credit crisis.

Political experts expressed concern over potential discord with Germany. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has led the efforts along with President Sarkozy to impose austerity measures.Hollande plans to visit Germany immediately after taking office to discuss these issues with Merkel, probably in mid May.
