Three villages 'boycott' Delhi civic polls

Voters in three villages of the capital on Sunday "boycotted" the Delhi municipal polls protesting against authorities' alleged apathy in providing civic amenities like proper roads and drainage in their area.

The polling booths in villages of Khera near Kazipur, Ladpur near Kanjhawla and Sanoth in Alipur wore a deserted look during the day.
A number of people were seen outside the polling booths in Kazipur with banners announcing boycott of the polls though officials waited for voters.
"For the last 30 years, nothing was done in the area. Candidates came here seeking votes but after winning they never returned. See for yourself the condition of roads or drainage," a local said.
Locals say there are 1,280 voters from the village. "There is no difference between parties. This is our decision. We took the decision after a village panchayat. There is no dispensary, no facilities. Why should we vote?" another villager asked.
Similar were the complaints of villagers in Sanoth and Ladpur.
