Khadi industry dying due to govt apathy

Khadi is Bharat pride which bring the rural folks a place to enter the emplyment and business opportunities across the nation.With government not giving any heed to this important hand woven sector needs to be re-looked and re-visit entire gamut by our national leaders to realign with fresh brands and make it popular.
Media (PTI) reports Once hailed as a symbol of the masses that wove the future of the nation, Khadi, popularised by Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle, is dying slowly due to Government's apathy, activists claim.

The death knell for Khadi, which grew popular as an emblem of boycott and a tool of mass mobilisation during the independence and post-independence socialist era, has been finally sounded, said the activists who assembled under the banner of Khadi Swadeshi Forum (KSF) in the capital recently.

"Khadi, which is providing livelihood directly to around one crore people across the country, is now struggling to survive due to lack of long term vision and effective policy," said Ram Shastri, national convener of KSF.

"Even in MGNREGS, every worker is entitled to Rs 100 per day
