Brahmaputra diversion to adversely affect Assam: Gogoi
India is Worried that any diversion of Brahmaputra river by China could adversely affect Assam, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said he will meet External Affairs Minister S M Krishna tomorrow to ask him to take up the issue with China. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Gogoi expressed concern over the reported Chinese plan to divert Brahmaputra as it will affect Assam's agricultural economy. Mr. Gogoi also said that talks with ULFA are moving in positive direction. He added that state government will pursue the next level of talks only after the pro talks cadres formally sign a ceasefire accord vowing suspension of their operations.
