Indian graduates to obtain EASA Cabin Crew Attestation for the first time

26^th April: Cabin Crew Europe in association with GMR Aviation Academy, is all set to deliver EASA approved Cabin Crew Initial Training Courses in India. This is a first for India, with successful graduates obtaining their EASA Cabin Crew Attestation. So far, two locations have been approved in India for delivery of theoretical and practical training. Though the company will be expanding across India due to high demand.

Cabin Crew Europe - the first non-airline EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) approved Cabin Crew Training Organisation in Ireland regulated by the Irish Aviation Authority was established by Nobox in 2018. Consensus on Afghanistan issue

US, China and Russia have reached consensus on various aspects of the Afghan issue, including sovereignty, internal dialogue, terrorism, military withdrawals and smuggling. 

The second trilateral consultation on Afghanistan held in Moscow, Chinese Special Envoy Deng Xijun, Russian Presidential Representative Zamir Kabulov, and U.S. Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and its ongoing peace process.

The three parties emphasized that they respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and the country’s right to choose its own path of development, and called on foreign militaries to withdraw from the country in an orderly and responsible way as part of the peace process.

They said they recognized the strong desire of the Afghan people for a comprehensive ceasefire and urged all to take immediate and effective measures to reduce violence.

The three representatives also called on the Taliban to prevent recruitment, training and fund-raising by terrorist groups and to expel all terrorists, and encouraged peace talks between the Taliban and a representative Afghan delegation involving the government.

They suggested the Afghan government and the Taliban should take all necessary measures to wipe out the threat of drugs in the country. The first trilateral consultation was held a month ago in Washington, during which the representatives discussed ways to promote peace, prosperity, and security in Afghanistan.

The consensus was reached during the second trilateral consultation on Afghanistan held in Moscow between Chinese Special Envoy Deng Xijun, Russian Presidential Representative Zamir Kabulov, and U.S. Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad. 

The three parties emphasized that they respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and the country’s right to choose its own path of development. They called for withdrawal of foreign troops from the country in an orderly and responsible way as part of the peace process.

The three parties also agreed to continue their consultations, and to decide via diplomatic channels the time and participating countries for the next meeting in the Chinese capital of Beijing, in a bid to further promote the Afghan peace process, for which they will stay in contact.

Indonesia:Special stamp on Ramayana

@IndianEmbJktIndonesia has released a special commemorative stamp on the theme of Ramayana to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of its diplomatic ties with India. 

In a statement, the Embassy of India in Jakarta yesterday said the stamp, designed by renowned Indonesian sculptor Padmashri Bapak Nyoman Nuarta, featured a scene from Ramayana in which Jatayu valiantly fought to save Sita. 

A specially signed version of the stamp will be on display at the Philately Museum in Jakarta, it said. 

India’s Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat and Indonesia’s Vice Foreign Minister Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir attended the event.

Kim Jong Un to meet Putin

Kim Jong Un will meet Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

Kim Jong Un arrived in Russia for a summit with President Vladimir Putin, the meeting coming just two months after the North Korean leader’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in Vietnam that ended abruptly.

Kim Jong-un’s armored train has reached Vladivostok, a city in Russia’s Far East, which will host the first-ever meeting between Kim and President Vladimir Putin.

The summit, which is scheduled for Thursday, will be hosted by the Far Eastern Federal University at its new campus on Russky Island, which is across the bridge from Vladivostok.

The program of the visit has largely been kept secret, but evidence of preparations for the high-profile meeting has been floating around since Monday.

Two leaders failed summit in Vietnam meant that Kim was unable to get the sanctions relief he sought from the United States. He is unlikely to get that in his meeting with Putin as well. 

But while Russia fully enforces the sanctions it voted to impose on Pyongyang, it has joined China in calling for loosening the punishment in recognition of steps taken in limiting North Korea’s weapons testing.

Kim has two urgent concerns as he heads to the summit – North Korean labourers in Russia and the food shortage in his country.

Around 10,000 North Korean labourers are still employed in Russia. All of them will have to leave the country by the end of the year as a 2017 UN sanctions resolution takes effect.

The labourers, who previously numbered as many as 50,000, provided Pyongyang with more than $500m in foreign exchange annually, according to documents seen by Reuters news agency.

“Maybe, the numbers will stop decreasing after Kim’s visit,” said Dmitry Zhuravlev, director general of the Institute of Regional Issues in Moscow.

The labourers’ presence is crucial in Russia’s underpopulated provinces that have plenty of fallow land, timber and natural resources but they are “large enough and there is enough room for the Koreans”, added Zhuravlev.

Kim is also looking at the possibility of a food shortage in North Korea this summer. Russia has shown a willingness to provide humanitarian aid.

Last month, it announced it had shipped more than 2,000 tonnes of wheat to the North Korean port of Chongjin. 

YSK No re-run of elections in Istanbul.

Turkey’s high election board has rejected part of an effort by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party to have a re-run of elections in Istanbul. 

The appeal regarded voters who were dismissed by decrees from government jobs after an attempted coup in 2016, Anadolu reported. In a petition submitted to cancel and re-run the city elections that it lost three weeks ago, Erdogan’s AK Party cited thousands of ballots cast by people it said were ineligible to vote due to previous government decrees. 

Based on initial results and recounts, the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) won the election in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, with a margin of some 13,000 votes. The new CHP mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu, took office on Wednesday, despite a formal request submitted a day earlier by the AKP to annul and repeat the mayoral elections over what it said were irregularities. 

The high election board, the YSK, has not yet ruled on the appeal to annul and rerun the elections due to voting irregularities including faulty entering of voting data, Reuters said.

·        Candidates with cases related to Crime Against Women:  21  candidates have declared cases related to crime against women such as assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty (IPC Section-354), husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty (IPC Section-498A) etc.,  against themselves.

·         Candidates with cases related to Hate Speech: 16 candidates have declared cases related to hate speech against themselves.

·        Party wise Candidates with Criminal Cases:  Among the major parties, 25(44%) out of 57 candidates from BJP, 18(32%) out of 57 candidates from INC, 11(20%) out of 54 candidates from BSP, 12(57%) out of 21 candidates analysed from SHS, and 60(17%) out of 345 independent candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.

·        Party wise Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases:  Among the major parties, 20(35%) out of 57 candidates from BJP, 9(16%) out of 57 candidates from INC, 10(19%) out of 54 candidates from BSP, 9(43%) out of 21 candidates analysed from SHS, and 45(13%) out of 345 independent candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

·       Red Alert Constituencies*:  37 out of 71 constituencies are red alert constituencies. Red alert constituencies are those constituencies where 3 or more contesting candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Financial Background

·        Crorepati Candidates: There are 306(33%) candidates who have assets worth Rs. 1 crore and more.

·        Party wise Crorepati Candidates: Among the major parties 50(88%)out of 57 candidates from INC, 50(88%) out of 57 candidates from BJP, 20(37%)out of 54 candidates from BSP, 13(62%) out of 21 candidates from SHS and 8(80%) out of 10 candidates from SP have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore.

·        Average assets:  The average asset per candidate contesting in the Lok Sabha Phase 4 election is Rs. 4.53 crores.
